    1) Make the SSID hidden.
    2) Use WPA2 if it has it.
    3) Change the SSID
    4) If you can lower the power level and still get the same service, then do it.

Also, look at the DHCP reservations. You can see what their MAC is as well as your machines. If you router will support it, only allow certain MAC addresses.

Someone could still get in, but it will be MUCH harder.

If you don’t have a security enabled network than anybody who has or can get a computer in your wireless router’s range can use your internet connection to go online.

Call your router manufacturer or your internet service provider and take their help to set up a security enabled network.

Or if you want to try yourself then just read the following steps :

Click on start > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt.

On the command prompt (black window with dos shell) type : ipconfig then hit enter.

You will see IP Address Subnet Mask and Default Gateway for your wireless network. Note down your default gateway.

Close command prompt and open internet explorer and in the address bar remove the address mentioned there and just type your default gateway and hit enter, you will see a username and password box come up. Put in the username and password if you know it or try the following user name and password.

    username: admin
    password: admin

    or

    username: admin
    password: password

If you are able to log in then it would show you your router page and under the wireless settings tab you can configure the security key as required. WPA key is more secure than WEP key so you can set any one of them and then restart your computer and the router.

If you are unable to open router page call your router manufacturer or you ISP if you got the router from them.
